FAQs
For information on a specific course,
please see the course description for that course on the
"Training" page of this site.
Are men welcome in the classes?
Absolutely. All of our instructors are
females, but both men and women of all ages are welcome to attend
any of our courses unless otherwise stated in the course
description.
What if I've never
shot a gun before?
Our classes are designed for every level of
expertise, including those who have no experience at all with
handguns.
Will I be the only woman in the class?
More than likely there will be other women since
women make up a large percentage of each class.
Do you offer classes for "women only?"
If you have a group of 4 or more women or if we have
a large demand for a women-only class, we will gladly schedule one.
Do you provide firearms for the classes?
A selection of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols
are provided for the Basic Pistol Shooting Course. All other
courses, except Home Firearm Safety, require the student to bring
their own firearm.
How big are the classes?
One of our main features is a small class size.
There will usually be no more than 6 students per class.
Is there a minimum age requirement to attend
the class?
The only class with an age requirement is Personal
Protection in the Home. However, we ask parents to use their
best judgment in determining whether their child is mature enough
and responsible enough to take the course. If a child is under
the age of 16, we ask that a parent or guardian be present during
the course.
What do I need to bring with me?
Since this varies for each class, please refer to
the bottom of the course description where the needed supplies are
listed.
How do I sign up for a class?
Send us notification using the "Contact" page of the
site.
How do I pay for my class?
A 50% deposit is required no later than one week
prior to the course. The remainder will be paid the day you
attend the class. We accept cash and checks, or you may pay
through PayPal using your bank account or a credit card.
What if I can't make it to the class I have
signed up for?
We will gladly apply your deposit to another class
that better fits your schedule. No refunds will be given.
Where do I start if I'm an experienced
shooter?
Except for the Home Firearm Safety course, everyone
is required to start with either the FIRST Steps Pistol Orientation
or the Basic Pistol Shooting Course. This allows everyone to
learn the same shooting fundamentals and to develop the proper
shooting technique.
Do I need to go to the range and practice
prior to taking a course?
No. We prefer that you not do any shooting
prior to attending class.
Do you offer classes for rifles and
shotguns?
At this time, we only offer pistol classes, but we
are partnered with other instructors who teach a variety of NRA
rifle and shotgun classes.
Is lunch provided?
No. There are many restaurants in the area so
feel free to ask your instructor for directions. Our training
facility is equipped with a kitchen so you may also bring your
lunch.
Will this class qualify me to purchase a
handgun?
This class alone will not qualify you to purchase a
gun. We ask that you refer to the current laws for your state
to determine the qualifications for owning a gun.
Can I bring my own gun?
Yes. All personal guns should be brought into
the classroom unloaded with the action open. No ammunition is
allowed in the classroom -- NO EXCEPTIONS.
